Linda's Living

Assisted living facility

What is Linda's Living about?

Linda’s Living is a senior living facility that embodies a blend of independence, luxury, and well-being through aesthetic biophilic design principles. The number one focus for Linda’s Living is to create an environment where the residents not only receive the proper care that they need but can also feel empowered and independent, where they are fostering a sense of dignity. I envisioned a space that integrates elements of nature into every aspect of the design from my choice of materials to the layout of the facility. By incorporating biophilic design with natural lighting, plants, and natural textures such as grass cloth, it aims to give a connection with the outdoors. This promotes mental and emotional wellbeing among the senior residents. I strived to make the facility feel as luxurious as possible by adding in details of high-quality furnishings to creating an ambiance of comfort and elegance. The concept embodies spaciousness and accessibility, making sure that the residents are able to move about their spaces comfortably. The promotion of mental health and wellness is a central approach. The biophilic elements create an aesthetically pleasing appeal to the overall environment and have also proven to help with therapeutic benefits such as reducing stress, anxiety and depression. By adding a sense of connection with nature it encourages the residents to feel relaxed and calm. The concept for this senior living facility redefines the traditional notion of care by prioritizing independence, wellbeing and luxury. By incorporating biophilic design it creates a comfortable environment where the residents can thrive and improve their
quality of life.

Research Question:
How to keep the elderly feeling independent?
THESIS STATEMENT
While assisted living can be a good option for those who need assistance with daily activities and tasks, there are several ways in which it could improve. Elders must remain independent to preserve their overall well-being. Independence such as fitnessclasses, youth mentoring, and gardening, promotes a sense of control, self-esteem, physical health, and social interaction for seniors. Many assisted living facilities have little to no consideration for autonomy among elders, but it does not have to be this way. by incorporating strategies that promote independence and physical well-being, elders will feel a stronger sense of community and peace of mind.
